Pro Motion from Cosmigo (http://www.cosmigo.com), written by Jan Zimmermann, author of several CBM 64 games and tools like Gunpaint, is definateley missing in the list of tools.

As far as I know, ProMotion is not a freeware tool. It is indeed a fine pixelling program but may be too expencive for some pockets.

Exactly. ProMotion is not freeware. On the other hand people invest a fortune into new hardware so why not spend a few bucks for some real cool software?

You're right - but, I'm relatively poor... So I hardly have an option to invest in software, and very very far from giving out money for state-of-the-art hardware... Believe me, I'd be the most happy person around if the biggest problem of my life would be to linger about buying a software or a new processor. So I'm forced to stay beside freeware and/or cracks.
